Protect Your Employees From Government Takeover

OK, that was a somewhat overdramatic headline but it's not far off.

If employees and their families don't have a Will, the state will make decisions for them that could have long-lasting effects.

When people experience tough situations like these, they won't be able to focus at work.

...obviously, this is not about the employee themself dying...

Their productivity can drop leaving others to pick up the slack.

They have to take time off work to handle difficult matters.

Some people believe a handwritten Will is enough but when a family begins to argue over what is meant in the will, the state could step in.

*** Case in point, regarding the handwritten will:

One of my employee benefits clients said he could write his own Will. He is right.

Before I could say anything, one of his co-workers jumped all over him.

She said, "CARL, you know as well as I do what I've been going through with my late husband's parents.

They contested his handwritten Will and I have spent over a year and a half fighting them in court, all because it was poorly written. We still don't have a decision from the court."

Without a properly written Will, you could be leaving your loved ones in a difficult position.

*** 2nd Case in point on the state making decisions:

A young couple, who had 2 small children, died in a car accident. They had no Will.

Both the maternal and paternal grandparents fought bitterly to get custody.

The judge ruled that neither of the couples would be granted custody, based on their current behavior, and the children were awarded custody of the state.

I wonder how long it took those grandparents to come to terms.

By offering comprehensive legal services, employers can play a significant role in helping employees and their families have greater peace of mind.

That helps them focus on their jobs rather than personal issues, which can save the company money.

Do you currently provide your employees with a legal plan?

...one that offers unlimited access to lawyers, including getting their wills prepared and updated yearly at no extra cost?
