Yesterday, I was at an after-hours business mixer.
I met up with a prospective client who had been interested in my services for their roofing company but, after our sit-down meeting, had disappeared.
You know the type of person I'm talking about. One minute they're interested and the next minute, the FBI can't find them.
If you are like me, your first thought is, 'What did I do wrong?', knowing that you hadn't done anything wrong.
I approached her asked how she was doing, then apologized if I had come across too forceful.
She said NO then proceeded to tell me that over the past 4 months, she learned and has been dealing with Lyme disease.
I shared my short-lived albeit intense experience with Lyme with her and told her about @Fred Diamond and his book titled, Love, Hope, Lyme.
When I first met Fred, he was considering writing a book on Lyme disease because he had been personally affected by the devastating effects of Lyme. Someone very close to him has Lyme and he wanted to honor this person by writing a book about it.
Lyme is called The Quiet Epidemic because it affects people in so many different ways that it is often difficult to diagnose.
A few side effects could vary as much as getting a bad rash, severe headaches, or facial palsy. The symptoms can become much worse affecting many parts of the body. It's different for everyone,
I told her I would share Fred's book, Love, Hope, Lyme, with her.
At the end of our conversation, she told me to call her in October about my services for her business.
Then she added, "We'll set up a time for you to speak with all my employees as well."
I didn't see that coming!
Note to self - don't make assumptions, especially in sales. You never know what someone is going through.
Thank you, @Fred Diamond for giving us the book Love, Hope, Lyme. You helped me further build a relationship with a prospective client.
Did you know that many people contract Lyme by allowing pets on their beds? Ticks transfer from the pet to their beloved human upon close contact.
How has someone from LinkedIn unexpectedly helped you in business?
