Are you over 18 years of age?
August is national Make-A-Will month.
Do you currently have a Will?
If not, ask yourself these questions:
- Who will make decisions for you if you aren't able to?
- Who will handle your assets, such as your social media accounts, a pet or a favorite collection?
As a young adult, you need these important documents in place or the state will make decisions for you.
How can you protect your digital assets?
The best way to protect your digital assets, and all the others, is to designate who will have control of them in your Will.
We all have more digital assets than we realize. See the chart below.
Another reason to make your digital assets part of your estate plan is to reduce the risk of identity theft of the deceased.
When identity thieves catch on that a profile is no longer in use or they see condolences on a page, they know the account is not being monitored and will be easier to hack.
Have your digital assets included in your Will.
A good estate attorney will include this in their Will questionnaire.
If you aren't sure where to turn or think you can't afford an attorney, ASK ME.
Your Will is one of the most important documents you own.
Is your Will up to date?
