August is Make-A-Will Month
This month, I will focus on the need for an estate plan, better known as your Will.
Your estate plan can be considered a ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ท๐ช๐ต ๐ต๐ธ๐ฟ๐ฎ ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ป to your family, expressing your care and consideration for their future well-being.
A well-prepared will communicates a powerful message:
Despite its importance, estate planning is a topic that often causes discomfort or embarrassment.
To start the conversation, I usually ask if someone has an up-to-date will. This approach helps curb the embarrassment for those without wills.
Two common reasons people lack a will are:
The cost - They believe they cannot afford it.
Emotional barriers - Many people flat out don't want to talk about their mortality. People are afraid of dying.
Having these essential documents in place benefits you and your entire family, providing clarity to your loved ones who are left to handle your estate.ย
โ It's also important for young adults, aged 18 and over, to have these documents prepared. (I'll discuss this more in future posts)
Throughout August, I'll explore the topic of estate planning, sharing insights and discussing its many aspects.ย
Share your thoughts and experiences, and together, let's explore the importance of preparing for the future.
Is estate planning a topic you feel comfortable discussing with your loved ones?
