After spending two hours with 2 insurance salesmen, I signed a contract with their company because they claimed they would save me $400 per year on my homeowner's insurance. They were new to the chamber of commerce so I trusted them.
My current insurance company asked if I would allow them to review the new policy, which I agreed to, and they immediately pointed out several areas in the coverage that were inferior to what I currently had.
I returned the policy and told the company never to contact me again. At the same time, I had gotten the initial bill which was higher than the company had originally quoted. I returned the bill and refused to pay any of the recurring bills that arrived. I told them to cancel my policy because they had lied to me.
Four months later, I received a collections letter demanding $481. I called my law firm.
Two weeks after talking to my law firm, I received a letter from the insurance company which showed they had canceled my policy, dated four months earlier. They wiped me off of their records from the day I first met with them. I’m not even sure that’s legal, but I was thankful for my LegalShield membership!
