How do you feel when you are being questioned about things you said you would do?

What does it mean to you to be held accountable?

I was amazed when I first heard from provider attorneys at LegalShield and how they feel about receiving a 15 point monthly accountability report (report card) from LegalShield corporate.

I didn't expect the responses they gave. Our law firms love being held accountable because it shows them so clearly where they are doing well, where they can improve, and they strive monthly to get better. These are seasoned attorneys, not start ups or paralegals, who love doing what they originally wanted to do when they went to law school, HELP PEOPLE.

Being held accountable does not mean that you are being reprimanded or shamed for things you didn't do. You set an intention to do certain things to advance yourself in business or other areas but did not get them done. You already know that and you don't need a reprimand.

Accountability means that you are being held to account for the things that you have the ability to do, and said you would accomplish.

Having someone else hold us to account is important because we tend to be lenient with ourselves. We forgive ourselves and make excuses for our shortcomings.

The person holding you accountable needs to doing nothing more than ask you, Did you do what you said you would do? You answer Yes or No.

NO excuses, NO explanations. That's it...then sit with that and consider how it feels. Then hold yourself accountable and get it done!
