Stories are great in a sales presentation, however, the length of a story can make or break a deal.

Do you tell stories that take 5 minutes to tell, with every detail and embellishment you feel is necessary?

You should be able to tell a compelling story within about one minute.

Here is an example. I have shaved all the detail out of this long story that took several months from beginning to end. Only the minimum details are left:

I moved to Texas rather quickly. The woman, who was buying my house back in Michigan, quit her job one week before her mortgage loan was to be approved. The mortgage company declined her loan.

She had completely breached our contract. She demanded her $5000 deposit back. She had left me sitting 1500 miles away from an empty house, without any tenant.

I flat-out refused to pay her anything.

She sued me!

I called my LegalShield law firm here in Texas and they connected me to the Michigan law firm, who sent an attorney to the court for me.

We won the case, and I never had to leave Texas!

LegalShield saved me $5000. All it cost was my monthly membership.

How long do your stories take?

I tell long stories. 3-5 minutes

I get to the point. 1-1 1/2 mins

I don't tell stories
