Something new has transpired in your company. Maybe it's a new incentive, a bonus, or a deadline that needs to be reached.
Do you make a point to get the information first hand?
Do you depend on others to find out what is going on for you?
Do you ignore it and keep doing what you've always done, thinking it doesn't apply to you?
If you are in a position to delegate who receives information for you, you must first be sure that you can trust that person to get all of the details. It's understandable that leaders can not be everywhere at once.
On the other hand, if you simply expect others to take time out of their day to learn what's new so they can fill you in later, you may want to reconsider your level of integrity. Expecting others to drop what they are doing to learn new information, while you continue about your day is not ethical; it's taking advantage of the people you work with.
Integrity and good ethical practices mean everything in business and, as the saying goes, how you do anything is how you do everything. It may not seem like a big deal to you at the time, but word gets around.
