Let's talk about business partners.


Every business partners well with other professional, as referral partners.


In networking organizations, like @BNI, they have power teams, where groups of professionals join forces to pass each other referrals.


There might be a Wedding Power team, a Construction Power Team, and Family Protection Power Team. Here are some examples:


💥 The Wedding team may consist:

  • A wedding planner/Wedding venue

  • Photographer/Videographer

  • Baker/Caterer

  • DJ

  • Bridal Shop/Florist/Jeweler ...

💥 The Construction team will have a:

  • Builder/Architect/General Contractor

  • Realtor/Title Company/ Mortgage Broker

  • Window Company

  • HVAC/Plumber/Electirican

  • Cabinet maker

  • Roofer/Flooring/Landsscaper...

💥 And the Family Protection team joins:

  • Life/Home/ Health/Auto Insurance agents

  • Legal Services/Estate attorney

  • Home Security

  • Computer Repair

Every business pairs well or compliments some other business.


LinkedIn is much the same and we should all keep that in mind.


People have become so focused on their target audience, they forget that people who are not their target know their target audience.


There are levels of referrals that can be passed.


Level One referral partners are those who do business directly with each other. I need your services and you might need mine. They are each others target client.


Level Two referral partners give referrals to each other. The jeweler might refer newlyweds to the realtor about buying a new home.


I love working with insurance agents. Our services compliment each others.

While some businesses can directly refer to each other you have to keep your mind open, even if they can't.


Another example, those contractors in the Construction power team need insurance. That doesn't mean that every insurance agent needs contractors.


That's OK!


They know people who may need those services.


What most people forget about are Level Three (and beyond) referral partners.


This happens when you receive a referral from a Tier Two, or someone outside of your network.


It doesn't stop at three.


🪄 That's when the magic starts to happen. Referrals are coming to you by word of mouth.


People don't even know where they heard about you. 🤷🏻‍♀️


✅ REFER people whenever you can. That's how you help others and it will reciprocate.


When you think of building your LinkedIn network, think about all three levels of referrals.
