There was a time when women could not work.
There were many industries where the jobs were considered too difficult for a woman, or "not a woman's place".
Women began to emerge and breakthrough these manmade barriers, especially as entrepreneurs.
Entrepreneurship is one of the first areas women were able to enter the workforce.
As a professional musician, I experienced barriers when auditioning for orchestras. It was still very much a man's world.
I have stories but those are for another time...
The first orchestra I played in had only 8 women out of 92 musicians.
I was by no means the first woman to enter the scene by playing the French horn.
But it was still considered a man's instrument, as were all brass instruments at the time.
At one point in my career, I was invited to play in an exclusive women's orchestra.
I declined. It made no sense to me.
I worked hard to get into a professional orchestra that was 90% men.
Why would I turn around and do exactly what I had worked so hard to eliminate?
Today, I applaud all entrepreneurs.
Do you think that we should have a special day to celebrate women entrepreneurs?
